Martingale collars, also called slip or limited-slip collars, are a type of dog collar that provides more control than a typical flat collar to prevent dogs from backing or slipping out. The collar works by engaging and constricting when the dog pulls on the leash. Tension on the leash causes the chain to engage and tighten. They offer comfortable security without harming your dog.
Martingale collars are best for walking dogs who may otherwise slip or back out of a traditional collar. They’re not meant as a walking aid for dogs who pull. For dogs who are extreme pullers on leash, it may be more useful to work on loose-leash walking skills or investigate no-pull harnesses.
Outbound Canine Co. Collars are made for dogs who love the water and rolling in the mud. All our waterproof and odor-proof Biothane gear is handmade and made to order. They will hold they're flexibility in cold weather and are extremely easy to wash - just use soap and warm water. They are quick drying and a huge bonus? Biothane does not collect odors.
Measuring your Dog's Neck
When measuring your dogs neck for a Slip and Martingale Collar, please provide me with SNUG measurements to avoid the Collar possibly fitting too big. If you need help properly measuring, please visit our sizing guide.
Please note: Slip and Martingale Collars are not recommended for pullers. These collars can act as a self correcting tool only when used correctly. It is the responsibility of the handler to teach leash pressure if you plan on buying a Martingale/Slip Collar to best avoid any possible choking.
